BROOKLYN UNDER-SEA
This bright + charming house in Prospect Lefferts Garden is Noz Design’s first completed project in New York. Our clients, a wonderful creative couple, moved in, commissioned a mural of a mermaid and orca by artist Eelco Vandenberg, and then found us. Completed almost totally remotely, this project has been a true collaboration of the most rewarding kind – from our clients to their artist friends, to the many makers and artisans we brought on as well. With the main hosting level designed to feel “underwater” (fish-scale tile backsplashes, bubble lights, a sofa named "Wavy”, and a dorsal fin on a custom entry console by OTTRA), upstairs we took inspiration from Celtic forests.
Our scope of work on this residence included a new custom built-in bar and storage closet for bicycles, new lighting + electrical throughout, furnishings and decor (while thoughtfully incorporating a few of our clients’ sentimental pieces), and custom murals with Caroline Lizarraga, which included gold Ginkgo leaves in the primary bedroom, an octopus in the foyer, and a full mural in the nursery, inspired by the 2009 animated film, The Secret of Kells!.
