ROSE GOLD’S
When Rose Gold’s Tattoo & Piercing reached out to redesign their shop for their 15 year anniversary in business, it was an immediate and resounding YES. Our longtime client, for whom we designed sister-shop Fiat Lux, envisioned Rose Gold’s new look as bold, badass, and intentional. In the spirit of Rose Gold’s as a place to adorn oneself with art, we collaborated with several SF artists: Serge Gay Jr. created the incredible ceiling murals that depict “portraits” of piercing jewelry, Caroline Lizarraga applied gold leaf in oversized “Kintsugi” forms across our Chartreuse walls and black-stained oak cases, and multimedia artist (and tattooer at Rose Gold’s!) Ben Matthews brilliantly conceived of and made the gold snakes on the railings.
As for the renovation, we replaced the old mismatched flooring with large format porcelain – also optimal for sanitization in the treatment rooms. We added panel mouldings to all the partition walls (and painted them chartreuse!), installed new marble door hardware, and replaced the old autobody diamond-steel stair treads with black marble stairs. To ready the ceilings for their murals, we completed extensive electrical improvements, removing surface conduit and outdated industrial lighting; in their place, we installed new suspended track lighting, uplit the skylight alcove, and added our Lariat chandeliers! It has been an honor to bring to life this next era of Rose Gold’s – and visit them at 1157 Masonic Ave, in San Francisco.
