When the new owners of Mureta & Co. on Fillmore Street purchased the business in 2020, they had a vision of transforming the charmingly antiques store that had been hodge-podged together over nearly 40 years, into a welcoming, transportive jewelry shop.

Inspired by the patchwork of varied architectural styles in the original shop, the beautiful Victorians in this shop’s neighborhood of Pacific Heights, and the new owners’ love of Parisian Art Nouveau, we designed cohesive, well-lit jewelry cherrywood displays, reimagined the old shop’s 360º bookcase of antique books, added a new custom mosaic tiled entry floor that joins encaustic tile floors produced in the same way as encaustics were made in the 19 century, and deliberately mix & matched architectural ornamentation throughout, to create an inviting jewel-box sized jewelry store that feels in the same breath as though it has always been there, but is vibrant and new.
